Project Description

This project took a tired and outdated 1970’s bungalow and transformed it into a spacious and contemporary home. The original building was retained and completely refurbished. A new extension was added to create a large open plan living space and master bedroom suite. The previously unoccupied attic was converted to form a guest bedroom and a mezzanine study with views of the lake and fells. Two terraces were created to link the internal spaces with the mature garden. Careful consideration was given to the technical aspects of the build. Due to the location of the site adjacent to a busy main road acoustic considerations were very important. The roof and wall constructions were designed to reduce noise ingress and a mechanical ventilation and heat recovery system used to allow window trickle vents to be omitted. Project completed: 2010
